It's best known as a black tape, but I've seen it in yellow & black and red & black when used to keep people from tripping over cables on the floor. Gaffer's tape is heavy, with a fabric layer. Its adhesive properties are relatively weak so as to protect the paint underneath. Painters' tape is meant to protect one surface from paint applied right next to it, like molding vs. I pick mine up at Calumet, so if you don't have a pro shop nearby, mail-order may be your only choice. Is that all gaffer's tape is?
